Media Lab wins Second Prize PDF Print E-mail

prize_emblem.pngThe Science Media Lab is proud to announce that our team (Team Slap Chop) has won 2nd Prize by Jury at the Hamilton 24 Hour Film Festival.? Our team also took home Best Actor thanks to the efforts of Jon McAllister, who starred in this years production "Hard Cash: Nightly Report"

Presided over by a jury of film & television celebrities, the challenge this year was to produce a short film incorporating three randomly assigned elements.

Our Prop: A Canadian flag
Our Location: Inside of a car
Our Dialogue: "Show me the money!"

A total of 37 teams entered the festival, making it the largest 24 hour challenge in Canada.? Production began on May 1st at 9pm after the kickoff meeting, and we finished on May 2nd at 8:15pm, 45 minutes to deadline.? The film was presented to the judges on May 9th at the Lincoln Alexander Center.

The Media Lab would like to thank Jon McAllister, Chelsea Miya (from Ryerson's Journalism program),? Alan Teo, Gwen Mortimer and Evan Apostol for making this video possible.

Technical Details:

-Recorded on a Panasonic DVX-100B
-Sennheiser EV 100G wireless microphone
-Rode NTG2 Shotgun Microphone
-Editing in Adobe Premiere on a PC
-Graphics and compositing done in Adobe After Effects & Adobe Photoshop
-Music licensed from Westar Music
